Roadway has been serving the Puebla market for more than 10 years. The city is 75 miles south of Mexico City and mainly ships automotive parts, textiles and electronics. The growth of Roadway’s service in the surrounding areas motivated the opening of this new base of operations, which will enhance service to local and regional businesses in Puebla , including the cities of Tlaxcala , Veracruz , Tehuacán, Teziutlán, Cholula and San Martín Texmelucan. Bob Carr, vice president of international for Roadway, states, “Our Puebla terminal will provide enhanced customer service and allow us to extend our existing capabilities to increased market coverage with quicker response time.”

Roadway manages a dedicated fleet of equipment with satellite tracking in its vehicles, a workforce trained in Roadway’s systems and quality management and complete access to Roadway’s vast information technology system. Roadway also operates eight additional terminals along the U.S./Mexico border to further serve the Mexico market and maquiladora industries.

Roadway implemented the border ambassador service that provides seamless best-at-the-border transportation to and from Mexico . The bilingual service significantly improves customers’ ability to manage their cross-border shipments by assisting them with export documents, trouble shooting and providing full service tracking notification. The border ambassadors can be reached by calling (800) 468-5739 from anywhere in the United States or from Mexico at                        (800) 874-2000.

The company also offers the advantage of real-time shipment tracking and status reports, rate quotes and routing information, instant retrieval of proof of delivery documents, cargo claims status reports, and the ability to locate the nearest Roadway service center in Mexico , as well as the United States and Canada .

Roadway provides a complete set of required Mexico export forms on its web site, in both English and Spanish. The forms include U.S. to Mexico Bill of Lading, the Mexico to U.S. Orden de Remisión (bill of lading), the Shippers Export Declaration (SED), the NAFTA Certificate of Origin, a Power of Attorney, Letter of Authorization, Packing List, Commercial Invoice, and E·Z Exportâ Mexico, which simplifies the process of completing required forms.

The motor carrier is a leader in facilitating cross-border trade between Mexico and the United States . The company has been recognized not only by state governments, but also by the U.S. government.

The U.S. government has recognized Roadway with the Hammer Award for improving effectiveness of the Automated Export System (AES) to expedite the crossing of goods, document processing and to track shipments while they pass customs clearance.
