The
Mexico 2025 Initiative was launched in late 2001 by President
Vicente Fox Quezada. The following is an excerpt from remarks Fox
made when announcing the initiative, which attempts to define the
path Mexico will follow during the next two decades.
“Mexico Vision 2025 is
a unique opportunity for us to set forth our dreams and make them
come true, to exercise our freedom to choose the future we want.
This project is an invitation to explore different paths, to
imagine how and where we want to be in a quarter of a century,
what Mexico we want for us and for our children, how to work to
achieve that. It is an invitation for society to suggest options
and assess possibilities for the social and human development of
our country, because today, we have alternatives and the ability
to choose.
