All-electric injection molding machines save energy?

The notion that an all-electric machine can reduce a manufacturer’s electricity bill seems contradictory.  However, that is precisely the case for plastic injection molders.  Increasing numbers of molders are cutting electricity costs by switching from hydraulically powered injection molding machines (IMMs) – and the associated elevated shop air conditioning costs, hazardous fluid handling and high noise levels – to clean-running – all electric machines.  The current energy crunch makes these green machines even more alluring, as molders cope with massive energy price hikes and blackouts.
