A joint effort between the University of Arizona’s
Science and Technology Park and Trento Industrial Parks of
Sonora could help potential foreign investors looking to create
or expand high-tech operations in Ciudad Obregon.
The University of Arizona Science and Technology Park in
Tucson, Arizona is one of the United States’ premier research
and development facilities.
The site was purchased from IBM in 1994 and has grown to
be the 6th largest university-related research park
in the nation in terms of occupancy and jobs.
More than 6,000 employees work on site.
IBM developed the site in 1978 and for more than 15
years, the complex served as home to IBM’s research and
development and manufacturing operations.
Bruce Wright, University of Arizona associate vice
president for economic development and chief operating officer
