Keys to Success

      Increased workplace violence, employees who are fearful of change, supervisors who employ ineffective conflict resolution techniques…such are the realities in many of today’s corporate environments.

       Whereas the good old days of business touted promises like job security, rapid advancement, and enjoyable working conditions, the majority of today’s companies operate under a different set of standards. As a result, many employees give a half-hearted effort to their job responsibilities. In fact, in most organizations, only 42 percent of the employees are functioning at their absolute, authentic best. No wonder so many companies are struggling to survive.

      Many employees justify their lack of productivity by stating that their employers treat them as inmates and only expect them to do precisely what they are told. Are they off the mark with their analogy? Not entirely. Today’s corporations, much like the prison system, operate in a punitive, dangerous, chaotic world. Driven by increasing shareholder pressure to produce profits, locked in by ever-increasing government regulations, under intensive legislative and media scrutiny, threatened by predatory forces looking for any weakness on which they may prey, and moving at lightening speed, many company leaders feel as if they must dictate complete control over employees so as not to lose their corporate standing.

      What many executives fail to realize, however, is that to succeed under such intense conditions requires a movement away from demoralizing control practices and an emphasis on developing true corporate warriors.
