The
World
Trade
Center
concept brings together private and public sector agencies
involved in foreign trade. A
World
Trade
Center
puts all the services associated with trade under one roof. These
services often include providing trade information, communications
services, trade education programs, trade mission assistance,
exhibit and display facilities and World Trade Center Clubs in
participating cities.
The World Trade Center El Paso/Juárez was formed in 1994.
Chairman Francisco Solis recently provided Twin Plant News an
overview of where the WTC El Paso/Juárez is headed.
Q: What are the most
important projects being undertaken by the WTC EP/Juárez?
A: This year will
definitely be a defining one for the World Trade Center El Paso/Juárez.
In addition to our constant efforts to link our region’s
businesses with foreign markets, both through business assistance
programs and trade education programs, the WTC EP/J has brought
together a group of public and private organizations from our
region to promote trade between the American Continent, through a
long-term project titled Trade Expo of the
Americas
.
Through a series of yearly, distinguished business visits
to our region, the WTC EP/J aims to strengthen the existing
commercial ties between
North America
and
Latin America
, as well as to create new ones. On Sept. 24-25, we will proudly
launch this project by hosting a delegation of eight ambassadors,
including six Latin American ambassadors to the
United States
, as well as U.S. Ambassador to
Mexico Antonio Garza, and
Mexico Ambassador to the U.S. José
Bremen
. This delegation will additionally include a group of businesses
from the ambassadors’ native countries – including
Brazil
,
Argentina
,
Chile
and
Paraguay
– that wish to establish commercial relationships with our
region. This
series of visits will culminate in the establishment of the Trade
Expo of the
Americas
in our region, a permanent trade exhibition of products and
services from throughout the American continent.

community’s economic development, we have created the Committee
on Border Business Development, which will manage a set of three
sub-committees: Transportation Infrastructure and Support; Joint
Border Cities Political Support; and Resource Integration and
Application. The primary focus of the Managing Committee
(Committee on Border Business Development) is to review the

county
of
El Paso
for generating new business opportunities (bringing new business
to
El Paso
) and revitalizing El Paso-based businesses in order to reach out
to a more regional marketplace. The sub-committees...
