      Mexican employers say they expect hiring to begin to pick up during the beginning of 2004.

      Jorge Perez Izquierdo, general manager of Manpower Mexico, reported during the presentation of the results of the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey, that according to the 4,800 Mexican companies interviewed, employers expect a conservative yet positive  outlook for employment prospects for the beginning of  2004.

      In the press conference, Pérez Izquierdo indicated that the Net Employment Outlook is 11 percent for the first quarter of 2004, with 24 percent of employers expecting to increase jobs and the 13 percent of employers planning to reduce their personnel levels.

      This result is slightly positive, although it has been descending slightly in comparison with the previous quarters: this quarter’s results are 3 percent under the results of Q4 2003, and 6 percent under those reported in Q1 2003.
