       John Wayne loved it here. So do York International, Grupo Industrial Durango, Intercraft Burnes, Chic by H.I.S. and several other world-class manufacturers. These companies are taking advantage of Durango’s transformation from an agriculture and mining based economy to one based on manufacturing.

       Along the way, Hollywood is rediscovering Durango.

       International companies such as Tyson de México, Grupo Lala, York International, Linamar, Grupo Industrial Durango, Grupo Acerero del Norte, Intercraft Burnes, Chic by H.I.S., Peñoles, Grupo Industrial San Luis and many others have made it clear enough, by establishing their production in Durango, that there is an excellent level of productivity in the workforce, and a backing from the municipal and state governments to promote the installation and expansion of their plants

      Durango Gov. Angel Sergio Guerrero Mier is frequently described as tireless in his efforts to promote the state. He has a simple goal: to improve Durango. To that aim he seeks foreign investment to provide the jobs needed to keep people from leaving Durango. 

 

      In Durango companies produce air-conditioning equipment for shopping malls and skyscrapers and internal combustion engines to paper and cardboard for the packaging of cement and electronic devices. In addition pasteurized milk, cheeses and butter of the best quality, as well as pants and shirts for worldwide known trademarks, such as Levi Strauss, Ralph Lauren, Guess, Tommy Hillfiger, Docker’s, Nautica, Wrangler, Hard Rock Cafe, Hanes, Gap, among others are made.

       For decades Durango’s economic development was based on the primary transformation of the abundant natural resources of the state, especially those related to the agricultural, forestry and mining sectors.
