        Menlo Worldwide Forwarding, formerly known as Emery Forwarding, has upgraded its logistics facility in Otay Mesa , Calif. that provides full transportation, logistics and warehousing capabilities to support the important U.S. Mexico trade.

        Modernizing the facility’s functionality and upgrading security is a part of Menlo Worldwide Forwarding’s C-TPAT compliance plan. This plan included increasing the warehouse space and installing additional warehouse racks, which provided more cubic feet of storage space. The facility opened two years ago as part of the strategic expansion of the company’s operations to include services for Mexico and the NAFTA trade. Menlo Worldwide Forwarding is one of the Menlo Worldwide group of supply chain service providers. Menlo Worldwide is a $2.7 billion subsidiary of CNF Inc.

        “The Otay Mesa Logistics Complex, which is located just south of San Diego , provides Menlo Worldwide Forwarding with a significant competitive advantage as a logistics warehouse and gateway from Mexico to and from Asia , and as a southwest regional hub,” said Randy Stanley, vice president, Americas for Menlo Worldwide. “The Otay Mesa complex has advanced infrastructure and easy access to our San Diego facility, our Los Angeles regional hub and gateway, and to the ports of Long Beach and Ensenada . In addition, the facility is located within minutes of the Tijuana border crossing.”

        Services offered at the newly renovated Otay Mesa facility include U.S./Mexico customs brokerage services, ocean services, cross border transportation, intra-Mexico door-to-door pickup and delivery, inventory replenishment and fulfillment capabilities, expedited transportation into and out of Mexico , multiple carrier management and air freight services. Through Menlo Worldwide Trade Services, which has customs brokerage offices in more than 70 locations throughout North America and along the U.S./Canada and U.S./Mexico borders, it will also offer customized trade solutions. These solutions include origin-to-destination shipment visibility on the web for consignments routed via any forwarder or carrier, export/import compliance program management, tariff management, consulting and compliance training programs.

        With more than 30 years of operational experience in Mexico , Menlo Worldwide Forwarding has facilities and offices in Guadalajara , Mexico City, Monterrey , Chihuahua , Aguascalientes , Querétaro , Veracruz , Mérida and Leon . With the addition of a new expanded economy service in Mexico , the additional markets served are: Tijuana/Otay Mesa, Mexicali , Hermosillo , Nuevo Laredo , Reynosa/Matamoros, San Luis Potosí , Celaya/Guanajuato, Tlaxcala, Cuernavaca , Toluca and Puebla .         Menlo also announced the opening of a new office serving the Port of Manzanillo Mexico ’s busiest and largest Pacific port that strategically links Mexico to 74 countries throughout the world. The new office will offer Menlo Worldwide Forwarding’s complete range of global forwarding services, as well as logistics and supply chain management services. Menlo Forwarding has appointed Cesar Colin to manage the Manzanillo facility.

        The Port of Manzanillo is 300 kilometers west of Guadalajara and services 15 states in Mexico . It is located next to Jalisco, which has more than 130 maquiladora plants, as well as a host of major companies representing a wide swath of industries.
