Fundación Tabasco is an institution created by entrepreneurs and the government of the state of Tabasco in 1997. It is intended to help spur new business development in the state by taking advantage of Tabasco ’s immense productive potential.

Fundación Tabasco fulfills its objectives through three special programs:

Investment Agency: This is the short name for its Industrial Investment and Promotion Agency, whose main strategy consists in showing potential investors from any part of the world the advantages that Tabasco has if they establish their enterprises in it. To make investors consider Tabasco as a potential location for their expansion projects, the state has a novel incentive plan that permits it to offer special support and assistance to make the state an attractive destination for industry. The state’s significant commerce and services sectors need to be complemented with an industrial development that generates more employment and increases the level of technology of the companies’ production processes. The Investment Agency is the tool that Tabasco required to achieve such goals.

Tabasco en Acción: This is a program dedicated to create new business initiatives, to do the studies that demonstrate their technical, financial or market viability and to structure the proposals that allow their concretion. Tabasco en Accion utilizes a worldwide recognized and successfully proven methodology known as clusters, which is nothing else but to encourage the growing and consolidation of productive chains, guaranteeing such development with the participation of all interested people.

Tabasco en Acción aims to discover and support new entrepreneurial leaderships that introduce dynamism to the economic process in order to achieve the complete use of its potentialities. A new entrepreneurial culture with high social responsibility is the foremost objective.

Pymexporta: This federal-state government program has personnel specialized in promoting the exports capacity of small and medium local enterprises. Permanent training and assessment, besides market research are its main tools. Facing the need of incorporating to a globalized market, Pymexporta is a very useful choice for this kind of enterprises that, due to their background, have not considered exports as a real possibility. Special emphasis is given in this program to the development of exports markets different to the traditional markets of North America and Europe . Central America is considered for Tabasco as a potential exports market for manufactured goods, given the similarities of our economies and consumer patterns.

Dr. Arturo Romero Villanueva is director of Fundación Tabasco.
