The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), a professional society supporting manufacturing, is hosting an educational and networking event called Collaborate 2007 at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas, Oct. 16-18, 2007.

This event is designed by industry practitioners, including SME Texas members, to foster formal collaboration between aerospace, automotive and the defense industries, all of which have a heavy presence in the Fort Worth Texas area.

According to SME, the event gives attendees the opportunity to network across industry boundaries, to share best-practices and discover new ways to cut costs, improve processes and exceed customer demands.  Collaborate 2007 is comprised of informative keynotes and conference sessions, more than 50 interactive exhibits and exclusive behind-the-scenes tours.  The facility tours will specifically showcase the General Motors Company’s assembly of a full-size sport utility vehicle, to include cobotics technology, and the fabrication and assembly of the F-16 and the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company.

“This year’s event will have an emphasis on how we can utilize cross-industry collaboration to find new ways to deal with the strong and ever-growing trend of globalization,” says Collaborate 2007 Event Manager Kathleen Mennillo. “Our keynote panel topic, Collaboration is the Answer to Globalization, will feature experts from Ford Motor Company, The Boeing Company and Lockheed Martin Aeronautics to discuss how we can find new ways to work together to streamline global processes and innovate the way we do business.”

The conference sessions focus on the core components necessary for fast, flexible and efficient manufacturing performance:  Lean Manufacturing, Collaboration, Composite Repair, Rapid Manufacturing, Emerging Machining Technology, and Green Technologies...
