The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME),
a professional society supporting manufacturing, is hosting an
educational and networking event called Collaborate 2007 at the
Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas, Oct. 16-18,
2007.
This event is designed by industry
practitioners, including SME Texas members, to foster formal
collaboration between aerospace, automotive and the defense
industries, all of which have a heavy presence in the Fort Worth
Texas area.
According to SME, the event gives
attendees the opportunity to network across industry boundaries,
to share best-practices and discover new ways to cut costs,
improve processes and exceed customer demands. Collaborate 2007
is comprised of informative keynotes and conference sessions,
more than 50 interactive exhibits and exclusive
behind-the-scenes tours. The facility tours will specifically
showcase the General Motors Company’s assembly of a full-size
sport utility vehicle, to include cobotics technology, and the
fabrication and assembly of the F-16 and the F-35 Joint Strike
Fighter at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company.
“This year’s event will have an emphasis
on how we can utilize cross-industry collaboration to find new
ways to deal with the strong and ever-growing trend of
globalization,” says Collaborate 2007 Event Manager Kathleen
Mennillo. “Our keynote panel topic, Collaboration is the Answer
to Globalization, will feature experts from Ford Motor Company,
The Boeing Company and Lockheed Martin Aeronautics to discuss
how we can find new ways to work together to streamline global
processes and innovate the way we do business.”
The conference sessions focus on the core components necessary
for fast, flexible and efficient manufacturing performance:
Lean Manufacturing, Collaboration, Composite Repair, Rapid
Manufacturing, Emerging Machining Technology, and Green
