Auto industry companies have another option when it comes to determining where to locate in Mexico.

The Port of Altamira provides manufacturers an export platform to the world — an import gateway to the NAFTA market that provides the advantage of producing or warehousing product within a foreign trade/in-bond zone. In addition to this special zone, companies can develop their own terminal operations to process cargo. In one single location, cars, trucks, road construction and earthmoving equipment, mining equipment, large industrial machinery, metal-fabricated products and other types of equipment can be manufactured, and then exported to global markets.

“The port facilities in Altamira offer the best choice for reception and dispatch of automobiles, as well as auto parts,” says Goode. “Nowadays our operations are mostly import, but we also export vehicles. The rail and road links available from the port to the most important cities in México, allow efficiency in the transportation of these products to their final destinations. We are confident that automobile traffic in Altamira will continue...
